Our Estate

Our estate is situated in the heart of Coorg. We're a family heirloom dating all the way back to 1898, a result of five generations and 100+ years of passion and hard work. Our estate produces aromatic Arabica and Robusta coffee amongst thriving flora and fauna, is environmentally sustainable, and follows healthy agricultural practices to ensure ecological balance and a happy workforce.

Our Story

The Riverside Estate was founded in 1898 by Chendanda Karumbayya on the serene banks of River Cauvery in the picturesque town of Siddapura in Coorg. With a great passion to share our produce from Coorg, five generations of hard work for 100+ years have gone into creating a sustainable, high quality coffee producing heirloom. The expansive 55 acre property flourishes amongst jackfruit, fig, rosewood, mahogany, red cedar and fruit trees that lend the coffee here its truly inimitable taste.

Our childhood dream of bridging the gap bteween our farm in Coorg and coffee lovers across India is now becoming a reality. We are exteremely passionate about elevating the quality of coffee in Coorg and here to take it to greater heights.

The Picking and Processing

All coffee cherries are only hand picked, at the peak of their ripeness each season and sorted out into categories.

Our coffee goes through a distinct pulping, fermenting, dry, resting, and hulling process.

Pulped, fermented, dried and well-rested, our coffee has a distinct essence. The coffee seeds are dried and rested well till their moisture is brought down considerably, because that’s what gives our coffee its real essence. After removing the pulp, hulling is done in controlled environments with the help of machines to gently remove the parchment. The coffee beans are then graded on rigorous quality criteria beyond the ones used conventionally. Finally, they are roasted to perfection or powdered to the right grind sizes for a truly delicious cup of coffee.

The Roasting and Packaging

Hulling is carried out to remove parchment. The green coffee beans are then categorised on stringent quality control criteria such as size, imperfection, color stains etc. But it’s the roasting and caramelisation process that produces the actual characteristic flavor and color of our coffee.

Our coffees are then packaged in both ziplock and valved packaging to maintain the freshness, and bear our symbolic logo and year of inception that we’re very proud of. The beans can also be ground to your preferences and delivered right to your doorstep, ready to transport you to a place of calm and comfort.
